strange audio with ARC

I hooked up my new TCL Roku TV to my Denon AR 591 with HDMI ARC and it sounds like aliens are coming out of my television.

Three things to consider:

1) the cable could be defective

2) could be the wrong cable

3) ports are not what they seem

You may have to turn the ARC on, the TV speakers off, and change the audio output type in the TV menu. Check the manual.
Option B is to use the optical audio output instead. Same applies.
