Solved! Strange Issues

I'm having problems with something closing whatever active application I am using. What I mean is I will be working on a document or this question, and the program (or in this case Google Chrome) will suddenly close without warning. More to come as possible....

hardware for Dell Vostro 2510:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5670 (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
4GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
15.4in 1,440 x 900 panel
256MB nVidia GeForce 8400M GS

Running Windows 7 Ultimate

....

I'm not sure what else anyone needs to know. It's simply driving me nuts...
also, the web page will jump back to the top or this text box will lose focus or both. This will happen with any program I'm in.

if anyone can offer suggestions for either or both issues, I would be thankful.
Keep in mind, I have $0 to put towards taking care of this problem. I just want the laptop to work.

Sounds like something else is messing with your computer.

When was the last time you did a good deep scan for viruses and also malware? I would start there.
