I would like to use my Samsung Galaxy Tab A to stream video from apps like the History Channel or from PBS to my Samsung smart tv. Quite often the apps have video or shows that are not on cable tv or to see shows I missed that can be viewed with the app and would rather watch on my large flat screen rather than my tablet.

You may be able to use the Samsung AllShare Cast App. An alternative would be to use a Chromecast stick. If your phone supports MHL then you could use a adapter that would allow you to connect it to the TV with HDMI.
