I have 3 stripped screws on the Macbook's A1342 heatsink.

Here's what they look like:

I don't have any special tools readily available. So I will clearly need to buy something that specialises in getting damaged screws out. The question is..what should I invest in? I don't care about the screws themselves, I just want them out, so I can place new screws in.

I've tried some stuff I've read online such as using pliers (probably not the right kind, but I tried multiple that were different in size) and the rubber band. Nothing worked. The screws are stuck in firmly and won't budge.

Appreciate any help

There are many ways to do this, but you would need something like a drill or dremel tool or something similar to cut them. You can cut a notch in them to use a flat head screwdriver to try to get them out. There are also drill bits designed to pull out stripped screws, or you can use a thin drill bit and drill right through them of course you need to be very careful and steady not to drill through any other part of the laptop when you do that.
