[citation][nom]LORD_ORION[/nom]What??!?!?! They gave out the source code and architecture map? LOL, this system can never be trusted again. I am betting their is some Republican scum that has a hack, and they will employ it during the real voting.[/citation]
There is an idea, that if you have the source code available, do proper vetting for source code, have enough development put into it, it will be extremely hard to hack.
There is another idea, Security through Obscurity. Problem is if someone unscrupulous puts the code in there, no one knows its there except the coders who might be in on the backdoor. Its proven to be not very handy when people find new ways to poke and prod at systems to find these backdoors and workarounds.
There are many out there who feel that we should have voting be a transparent process. Can we be sure your vote was counted, not changed? What if there is a dispute? E-voting often ignores or neglects any way to verify it. Many believe its by design so it can be tampered with.
Doesn't matter what party someone is on, some people will go to great lengths to retain or get in power. It corrupts.
