Stumped on laptop display problem MSI GT780DX

Hey, my friend owns an MSI GT780DX laptop, and needed help repairing it, but I am stumped. the problem is the screen flickers and is green throughout startup, and once it is booted up, if flickers a lot. There is no problems when I hook it up to an external display, so it has to be a hardware problem. So far the LCD screen and LCD cable have both been replaced, but still it doesn't work. I don't think that it's the graphics card, since it works with an external display, but I have no clue what else the problem could be. Any ideas?

Try reinstalling the graphics card driver. if that doesnt help, then the problem is probably with the monitor itself.
