I have a Yamaha RX-V381. I have connected the rca cable to the back of the amp labled pre/amp out. The other end connected to a Klipsch sub woofer model R1103W rca cable to L/LFE, sub woofer does not work. I have another Yamaha amp model #RX-V373 in another room, when I connect the Klipsch sub to it it works great. Does this mean I need a different sub woofer? If so what type of sub woofer.

Solution
you probably have to check the speaker setup, if the fronts are set to "small" and the LFE is set to either "SWFR" or "BOTH" then it will redirect lows to the sub. If you have your mains set to "large" and LFE to "SWFR" then you only get the .1 discrete LFE channel from decoded 5.1 audio.
