Hello Tom's Hardware family,
This coming fall my company will be sending me to take some classes for controls engineering, below I will list some of the required classes and what will be demanded from the system.
1. What is your budget?
$2500.00
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
I would prefer a 15.6" over a 17" because of mobility and this laptop will be packed around quite a bit.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
Screen resolution will be important because I will be using this laptop quite a bit, I'm not familiar with what's out there as far as actual numbers, so any input is appreciated.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable
5. How much battery life do you need?
4-5hrs seems realistic for something powerful with a good screen resolution.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
N/A
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Autocad, PLC programming, Robot programming, maybe some 3d designing with Solid Works,
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
I would like to have an ssd for software, and a hdd for storage so maybe:
256-512gb ssd
1 tb hdd
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
N/A
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I'm not sure what a realistic expectation is so, 5 years?
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
I dont think this is that important, maybe just DVD?
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Most of the engineers have MSI gaming laptops but I'm open to other suggestions.
13. What country do you live in?
USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
Im not sure what else to add so if you need anymore information please ask away.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
