This makes me think of how more voltage in a processor degrades it more quickly. The brighter something burns, the faster it burns out comes to mind... Learning how to use your brain more efficiently seems better than an 'overclock'.

This is like steroids for the brain. Cheaters never win in the end. ;)

already know volumes about this, no side affects (except if there are and neutralizing electrodes which disable the brain activity in the area placed). the brain does not age and can be a source of ultimate transformation. this is a holy grail of technology for kids that lack curtain skills in school meaning this will help them get them over the hump of there weakness if there driven to do so. there is a bit of info on this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcranial_direct-current_stimulation and http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=amping-up-brain-function

[citation][nom]liteup23[/nom]And just like any processor, what are the safe overclocking limits before you cause permanent damage?[/citation]

but than there are people like me, i would over clock my brain at the expense of it taking years off my life if i could learn in 2 years what would normally take 5.

cheaters do win. i promise the brain does not age naturally only of injury or of particular illness. are brains are the key to all knowledge.. we should not down play this potential..

they say the after one session of this the brain stimulation continues to develop neural connections in gray matter 50 days after stimulation this is not some bullshit it works. gov isn't going to like this. i am down

Yet the more we use technology to enhance ourselves, the more de-evolution takes place. What happens when we rely on this technology then it disappears? I know, we shouldn't care about that since we probably won't have to worry about it in our lives(blah blah blah all about us blah blah blah who cares about the future populace blah blah blah).

Then you could also have people that use the technology to implant thoughts into users(ie mind control). Yeah, 'it won't happen' until it happens; our brains create memories using voltage, so this could possibly do something like that. Call me crazy...

This is SOOOO much BS, I don't even know where to start...
DBS and TMS (which deploys magnetic fields) are just in their infancy, use is limited and sketchy at best right now, medical evidence the same, and if any fool here is willing to believe a commercial device is already medically proven to work and pay for it, then by all means he/she deserves to be fleeced.
Even for proven technology (like, say laser hair removal), commercially available devices are just pi$$-poor weak non-effective pieces of cr@p.
But go ahead, fools, spend your money, some people in these start-ups need jobs, as well. It's a free-for-all market, and one's ignorance is another's treasure. Besides, who knows, one of you might be lucky and get some placebo effect, which is just as good as the real thing...
