surround sound help TV coax to av optical

Please can anyone help?
I have a finlux 50 inch smart TV, brand new. I also have a Samsung bluray surround sound system.
The TV spec says audio out is coax.
The surround sound only has HDMI and optical.
My previous Samsung TVwould send the audio via the HDMI cable. I have tried a cheap coax optical 9v converter but this hasn't worked in sending the TV sound to the surround sound system so at the moment I can only get surround sound from DVD or bluray. Is there anything I can do or buy that will sort the problem?

The coax to optical converter should work. Try changing the output of the TV. Choices would be PCM 2 channel or 5.1 channel. Try the one that is not set now.
