Solved! Taking phone from att to net10

Hey guys look I got a phone that is I believe to be locked I had it on a contract but my contract has been terminated because I switched from att to Verizon. My Gf sold the phone to a lady 4 hours away while my dumb tail didn't realize the phone was still locked. If she puts a net10 or straight talk sim card into the phone with service on it will it work? I don't see why net10 wouldn't work because it is GSM and uses att towers. Any help would be appreciated if it wouldn't work what would be my best route to getting the phone unlocked I was going to unlock it but att can't do it bc my old contract hasn't been payed off yet waiting for Verizon cards. Is there any website that I can pay to unlock my phone that's legit? I don't want to pay if I don't have to though.

If they locked it due to non payment, there is nothing you can do to make it work with another service. They still own it.
