Agree. I've never burned a DL DVD in my life.
And I don't think that I will ever need to use Blu Ray.

[citation][nom]lauxenburg[/nom]1.5TB in tape backup? I thought tapes were really expensive. So $100 for 1.5TB or did I misunderstand that?[/citation]

A notebook HDD is more portable (and resistand, I might add) than a CD (DVD, BD also included, lol). SSDs being the most portable of all.

I can carry more HDDs in notebook bag then DVDs/BDs for the same amount of GBs i need to carry. In other words, Discs are doomed indeed. Just work a little more on digital content (protection, compression, etc) and we're done with them (CDs, DVDs, BDs, etc).

Cheers!

HDD are cheaper, portable and smaller size (with 1:1 storage space), faster. Now the only cons for HDDs are mechanical problems and vulnerability to EM. (and optical disc DO have chemical problems on faulty batch too and vulnerability to light source too.).

I am keeping my data in redundant storage.
