tecra m5 operating system missing?

ive just baught a toshiba tecra m5 but there is no operating system on it how do i download windows xp pro onto it as theres a product key sticker on it

There are no official routes for XP downloads anymore, as it's no longer supported by Microsoft.

Your best bet would be to acquire install media, compatible with your key (Pro x64 I assume) from the used market.

ive downloaded a xp professional sp2 with product key onto this laptop ive got it in a file but how do i copy it onto a disk and then load it onto my tecra m5?

Be careful where you've downloaded it from.

There are places hosting it, and it's safe AFAIK - but others..... not so much.

You'll need the ISO of the disk (disk image) and a method to create a bootable USB (unlikely to be supported due to the age).
Should be able to burn the ISO to a disk, then boot from it.

What have you downloaded? Assuming it's an ISO file.... you just need to burn a CD/DVD with the image, so you can boot from it.

Near the end, it covers off disks.


Then, once complete - put it in the M5's disk drive and it should run.
Then, direct the install location to the harddrive (assuming there's on in there??) and let it do it's thing.
