[citation][nom]TommySch[/nom]"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither"-Benjamin Franklin[/citation]Misquoted and misused. I'm not sure why you feel this impairs your ability to move and think freely. Well, they would stop you if you had a bomb. So yes, less liberty in that situation. Sounds good to me.

In the end, even if the TSA can guarantee 100% that no one brings a weapon on-board a plane then what?

So the terrorists will move to bombing trains, malls, buses or any other crowded area...

All we're doing is shifting the problem to another venue.

A few years down the road, after this scanner is released, we will see a story like this:

"TeraView scanners are source of increases in cancer in population."

and

"TeraView scanners are using 8x normal amount of radiation levels that are safe for everyday exposure."

Then finally:

"TeraView scanners, not cellular phones, are the cause of increase in brain cancer. No, really, we mean it this time"

people need to grow the hell up. it is NOT a porno machine and creeps are NOT looking at it for pleasure! it is simply a safety device to help stop bombs, which help people NOT DIE. i would hate to see a few hundred (or thousand) people die just to save little Timmy from getting looked at for half a second by some guy he will never see again, EVER.

All you people, who say they have no issue or problems stepping through a scanner, get up against the wall for your new arm tattoos and a logo reminiscent of a twisted cross.

For those of you who are afraid of needles and ink, well little needles anyways, we have here under the skin implants that will tell us who you are and maybe if the technology goes correctly...will tell us what mood you're in and if you might commit a crime.

For those of you who don’t like that, we can give you a national ID card for those up close and personal searches.

All I can say for those who would say its ok for any government or individual to violate me or you physically, mentally, or electronically, no matter how innocuous or ambiguous it is, is nothing but a weak minded person who deserves what they get.

You're all running like scared little sheep, fearful of the muslim boogieman. Then you all have the audasity to sit there and take all this crap while the people who are responsible for this terror are running free doing whatever they like. They say this is a war of terror, its not its a war of religion--muslim against the rest of us and until someone has the guts to say this, we have already lost not only the war, but our freedoms WILL erode through time and our kids will pay for our ignorance and apathy.

You know what? This shit shouldn't even be published publicly. Seriously. This should all be secret. You wanna catch villains? You don't say ANYTHING about your techniques. This is so retarded it makes me wonder what your everyday joe schmoe thinks. Is everyone really that naive to think for one second they are safer because of this? If I tell you I am about to punch you in the face, with my right hand.. in 3,2,1... wouldn't you MOVE!?

You've got a leg up on that one. One idea would be to read less science fiction, or at least stop confusing it with reality.

Having the element of surprise is huge. But at the same time, deterrence can sometimes be more effective. We don't have a bunch of nukes so we can blow up the world. We have them so other idiots have less desire to use their own.

On a side note, there is probably a law that says you can't just go zapping people with X-Rays unless they consent. =P

Who is fearmongering? Im saying stand up for your rights man. Stop running around like a scared dog. I hate science fiction. These technologies are already here in one form or another. And dont tell me police dont already tag people with tattoos when caught for a crime.

Its people like you who say nothing is wrong and that what is happening is ok and we should all just live with the insane security decisions our government tweaks out. Im actually more afraid of apathetic people like you than the muslims. Its your attitude that will erode our freedoms.

A little confusing as I don't think scared dogs are too apathetic. Regardless, the only thing I'll need more details on is which freedoms you think we have lost due to our defensive posture against terrorism. I really am an open-minded person, but only if the other party is bringing specific examples.

THis technology has been around for AT LEAST 15 years now. Hell, even some of the earliest Sony Handicams with the nite vision option had a fix/update that was required because if you used the nite vision light during the day you could actually "SEE" thru peoples clothes.

I couldn't disagree more, with the person who said anyone can be bought for a price. Maybe that's anyone in your family! I love money as much as most people do, but I wouldn't steal it, I wouldn't kill for it and I wouldn't cheat anyone else out of theirs. We send soldiers into battle everyday who make very little money in the big scheme of things. But they do it for love of country, not love of money. They do it for love of mankind, not love of wealth. They do it for love of family, friends and countrymen, not dollars and cents. So maybe "you" can be bought for a price, for some of us their isn't enough money in the world for us to be bought.
Oh and I am US Air Force retired and a proud American.

what is the ratio of people that have died as a consequence of a hijacking/bombing vs those that have died of other causes while on an airliner? those that support scanners and increased security have not given any evidence that bombings or hijackings are increasing at all or how the measures put in place have helped to decrease the likelihood of such an event. in these last few cases, other security checks failed that should have stopped these people from even boarding the plane and somehow you honestly believe these new intrusive systems will help when the basic ones where totally ignored?

If its more accurate and can detect destructive stuff better without me being nude, I'm all for it, but if its LESS accurate, then thats bullshit, I want my fucking protection when I get on a plane.

I just wonder who the pervert watching the scans is. The creep probably has sex with his/her sister. Nobody has to wonder how the Nazis got people to gas and burn other people, there are always plenty ready to walk all over the rights of others. I hope the monitoring equipment malfunctions, blows up and the creep has 3rd degree burns over half his/her body, and lives.
