The best Media streamer VIA HDD

I'm looking for the best streamer I can find that will have the highest external hard drive support and utility. I'll most likely be streaming 99% from the external HDD due to lower internet speeds (for HD).
Price range, I'd like to stay around 60$.

I've tried and looked into a few. But, they all seem to have low HDD support or generally just lack file compatibility. Lately I've been using Plex and have a computer hooked up. But, people complain about the computer in the living room. So, yeah -_-.

The WD TV Media run about $50 refurbished and support a fair number of file types. I don't think that there is a limit to the drive size.
