The on/off button appears to be on but there is no reaction from the camera..it is as if the whole thing is frozen!

You're going to have to calm down and actually explain some things:
1) what camera?
2) what lead to the freeze?
3) what have you tried?
4) did you read your manual?

While you write that, try taking out battery and waiting a few minutes before putting it back in.
