the pictures on my sd card have gone black. how do i fix it. i believe the photos are still there. I tried copying the files to my computer. They are still the same. I ran a security scan-nothing fixed.

Hi

Write protect the sd card so you cant corrupt or write to card
( until problem is solved)
It would be useful to know if the card was in a camera, smart phone or just a laptop if so what created the pictures?

What are you viewing pictures in on laptop?
What size are your the pictures you copied to laptop?
Is this the size of other pictures that are ok?
Consider using data recovery software such as recuva from piriform or
Photerec from cgsecurity.org to look for deleted pictures on card and see if they are same as the black pictures and if normal color or black

I've had this happen before, and I considered the photos lost. This can occur from reformatting the SD card to a different format, like the above suggested, try using a data recovery tool.
