Then football could be considered as an addiction the same way.

A mass of people play/watch it. Sometimes makes people violent and aggressive the same way (your team loses, then you are angry and go out on the street and start messing around)...etc. Many people are buying the tickets, so they can watch football, wherever their team is playing. Why not call this addiction too?

as for violent kids: only the parents are to be blamed for this. I never played any other shooters and such, until I got 9. The first shooter was the classic UT
The only violent game I played as a kid was Diablo...but that was sometimes too scary for me, so I left it be for the time

I have a hard time seeing Mr. Pope`s report as anything more than grandstanding and trying to get a name for himself. It reminds me of a report that claimed there were areas in the USA that were grocery store deserts, where people actually had to drive (I think it was) 30 miles to get groceries. My first response to that was, what a city boy. Go live on a ranch in Texas for a while - you`ll see it`s not serious enough to write a `report`on. Nor is this report worth the time it took to write, so NO, I won`t be reading the full report.

Or , I could be like a normal person and realize I like playing video games, and the closest thing is Paintball.
