Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop as my current laptop has started packing up.

1. Budget - upto £750.

2. Screen size - 15.6 inches.

3. Resolution - Full HD / 1920x1080.

4. Desktop replacement.

5. Battery life - not fussed.

6. Gaming - occasionally.

7. Other tasks - web browsing, presentations / word-processing, films, photo-editing etc. I usually have several programs running at the same time.

8. Storage - atleast 500GB.

9. How long do I want to keep my laptop - 3-4 years.

10. Optical drive - not fussed but a DVD rom would be good.

11. Brands - I like Lenovo although I've never owned one, willing to consider other brands too.

12. Processor - Intel i7 or an AMD alternative

13. Memory - 4GB+ (ideally 8GB)

I've been looking around and found two £700 and two clearance laptops:

Thinkpad E560 i7 (please scroll down) - http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/e560/

Ideapad Y700 (AMD) - http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/y700-15-amd/?sb=:000001D4:00050824

Z50 (AMD) - http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z50-amd/?sb=:000001D4:000533C0:#SYSTEM

Another Z50 AMD - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Z50-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B01GCNYXR4/ref=sr_1_7?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1466380249&sr=1-7&keywords=lenovo+laptop

I have two options - go for a £700 laptop now and use it for a good 3-4 years or even longer, or get a cheaper one (£400) for the moment with the aim of replacing it in 2-3 years.

Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For those options, I will chose the ThinkPad. You don't need super powerful as gaming laptop, but I'm thinking are you doing the professional photo editing, if do, I will say MSI workstation will be a good choice for it.
