How about changing the style a bit on these?
Try filling the entire screen with the card ... and putting the description in the top right hand corner ... in small print.
Think about people using the wallpaper and putting their icons down the left hand side (as an example).
They need to be able to see that clearly.
Perhaps making the card or other object belend more into the background colour? So it is much less contrasted?
What do you think?
