If MW2 was just a "poor and lazy" port, then hopefully more developers will follow that same "poor and lazy" way of porting, rofl.

11.8M, amazing. Add pirated to that and the Wii titles combined bite the dust.

Cheers!

[citation][nom]eddieroolz[/nom]I'm just surprised that MW2 sold 237K units in Japan..[/citation]
I'm not surprised at all. People in Japan simply don't like the video game philosophy of the US. To prove that point, Japan relegates U.S. into a corner and labels them (almost like a dunce cap) American, or U.S. games.

It's ingrained in their culture really. You can call it racism or nationalism but their culture has always been xenophobic. It's more shocking when outside culture hits mainstream over there. It's weird how they'll take to some things while others just doesn't translate. Kinda like Germans and David Hasselhoff. Nobody can explain it.

They're stubborn though the same thing could be said for americans as well. Just shows how human we all are.

Totally agree.

[citation][nom]Computer_Lots[/nom]11.86 million is really impressive for a game that "everybody" was going to boycott because of DRM[/citation]

actually people were going to boycott it because it was shit.

I was going to buy it day one, but I just couldn't stand the arrogance of the company for what was a pretty bob standard iteration in the series. then it dawned on me that, with MP lamed, I was not going to pay full price for 5 hours of gameplay, gameplay that I had already experienced in the first one, with the same graphics ect. so what? there are new set pieces? and 'story' ?

I'll buy it when it gets cheap.

People didn't boycott it because it was bad, they boycotted it because they heard it was bad. It got a bad reputation from people who hadn't played it, just as Vista got a bad reputation from people who didn't use it. I myself have not played it either, but I'm not going to say it's bad because someone else doesn't like it.

Haven't played COD yet myself. I don't agree with DRM but not really deliberately boycotting it. Just haven't gotten around to it. Life seems just a bit more important atm.

My opinion of CoD MW2 is that its not as good as the first one but on its own its a pretty good game (really lacks in the replay value part, but that could be because I played the hell out of the first one)

anyway next years sales numbers will be dominated by Wii games of some sort or another. The system is still out selling the PS3 and 360 combined on a month to month basis. This will continue on until PS4 and the 720 and the WiiII/Super Wii come out, then its anyones guess as to who will sell more crap.

It's the same way nintendo got such huge Mario numbers with the Nes / Super Nes... bundle the games with the console by default, simple.

Mentioning the PC boycott in the face of the 11.86 million in sales (90% or more of which was console) is kind of stupid.

There was a boycott? Very stupid of PC Gamers, they're just making themselves even more irrelevant. Is it any wonder why PC ports receive so little attention from developers and publishers. You have rampant piracy and then the pirates complain that the quality of the stuff they steal isn't what it used to be. Laughable, I guess the entire PC gaming industry has to die before the PC audience understands.

American games are not labeled and put into a corner, what a joke. FPS games are just not popular here. A lot of American games are not even available for whatever reason, just as quite a few Japanese games never leave the island (do any of you really want to play a game where you simulate being a train conductor? or how about a horse racing simulation game? didn't think so). Resistance managed to spark some interest in FPS games here though.

You idiots...

The MW2 numbers are for ALL sales, including PS3, XBOX, WII and PC. If they broke it down by platform, I'd be willing to bet that the PC version sold less than 100,000 copies. Why? Because they gave the PC crowed a poorly ported Xbox game.

No, it was boycotted because of features it was confirmed by the publisher to be missing.
