While I am as cynical as the next guy, and do believe there is an ulterior motive to the actions of the torrent company I can not help but believe this will be of help to these poor villagers.
It is easy for us to mock here, but try imagining living off $42 a year for a moment, that's around 80 cents per week... You can't even begin to believe how hard that is, 80 cents to buy all the food you need for a week, no electric, no gas, water from a local stream or well, the only food you have coming from what you grow. Never buying clothes and all the luxuries we accept as normal (mobile phones, computers, internet, tv etc. etc) will never een be seen let alone had. We take out standard of living and laugh at those less fortunate than us.
Part of this deal was to improve the infrastructure for these villagers, better roads, farming equipment, no doubt there will be a better power grid put in place, their lives must be vastly improved over what they currently have, yet still fall way below what we take as normal
Good luck to the village, maybe they now have the most precious gift of all, something they surly lacked before... HOPE
