Hi all!

I have a question about my new laptop, a Toshiba C70D-B-34L. I want to upgrade memory and harddisk, but it seems impossible. I know it is a so called "non user upgradable" laptop, but there are other laptops of that kind, that are easy to open up by unscrewing all 12/16 screws and taking of the lid carefully.

In this case, there seems to be a little screw in the battery compartment, which seems to be upside down, and is locking the cover, so the cover can't be removed.

Do I really have to tear down my whoole laptop to get the cover removed? I *think* this screw is under the speaker-strip, just above the keyboard.

I have googled the last few days for an answer but didn't find any.

Any help is welcome!

Thanks in advance for your help!

The bad news is modern Toshiba's and most HP laptops are return to factiory only when it comes o minor upgrades or internal fixes.

Look hard enough at the keyboard and you'll see it only comes out one way and that's downward inside the machine. It's also held up with internal screws. Last one I dealt with, all the screws were out and the seal wouldn't break with my usual careful application of a very thin credit card.

Their repair charges are exhorbitant and folks should be told this when buying one.

Thanks for your reply! I am still wondering how they (at the factory or repair service) do this... It looks like a hard puzzle, just like you say!

In meanwhile I have managed to upgrade to SSD, jjust by making some room for my fingers to grab the hddd through te opening (just a few centimeters). But still, I want to upgrade the memory too. Seems impossible though...
