Toshiba laptop comes on but power light not on!

Hi my toshiba laptop comes on but the power light doe not and the screen is black, any help appreciated!

so if the power light and screen do not come on, then in fact your laptop does NOT come on correct?
when was it last working? what changed? what troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
