Toshiba p20 notebook display problem

Hello,
last week the display on my toshiba p20 notebook started to get a pink tinge to it, 2 days later the dsplay quit alltogether. the external monitor display works fine. i have removed the inverter and examined it with a high power glass and see not damage. how can i diagnose the failure. there is nothing else wrong with this notebook and i cannot afford areplacement. i have a very limited budget for my toshiba p20 notebook. thank you very much for your time. j

four years old, no warranty, has been flawless so far. need to repair, cannot afford to replace. inverters are in my budget at 20$ screens are not at 200$. how can i troubleshoot. thanks for your time. j
