Hi,

I'm having a major problem trying to resolve this shutdown issue with a Toshiba P305-S8822. I replaced the motherboard and video card, and it still boots up to windows, then shutdowns. I did noticed that the video card is warm to the touch, but not sure if its too hot, that it could overheating and shutdown. It shutdowns with battery only, or AC power.
Do you have any trouble shooting suggestions I can try? If I take the memory sticks out, the system halts during the memory check I believe, but it doesn't power down.

Yes, I used the following on the CPU and the video card. I removed the old thick thermal padding on the video card, and used this paste instead.

Do you still have the old thermal padding? Not sure that is the cause but if you have it you could try using it again. Are the fans working as they should - in other words is the computer overheating? I used a Toshiba at work that would randomly shut down and it would get terribly hot. I cleaned the dust out and eventually it worked better when elevated somewhat to allow better airflow. I take it that you did not have these problems before the replacement of the motherboard and graphics card. You didn't mention replacing the RAM. Did you use the same RAM you used before and did you replace the motherboard with the same model motherboard? Sometimes incompatible RAM can cause shutdown problems.

I still have the old padding, I guess I'll add them back on. Should I remove the current paste before adding them? Fans appear to be working fine. I used the same Ram in the new board. I also replaced the motherboard with the same model board.
