Toshiba problems

Hello,
my toshiba sattelite laptop's hard drive has gone out on me twice in a year, the first time it gave me warning, said a disk on the drive was failing, second it told me boot manager is missing,is this due to the common overheating problem with toshibas?

It could be due to a heat issue. What model Toshiba laptop do you have? Did you replace the drive yourself or send it into Toshiba?

hdd's can fail from excessive use (insufficient ram), bumping/jaring/dropping, heat (yes but laptops - rare), excessive startup/shutdown (power saving too strict), etc - drives should last a good two years atleast - perhaps you just had back luck?
