Toshiba Satellite C55 Will Not Power On!

Please help! I let my laptop die all the way and now it won't power on at all! I've tried taking out the battery and holding down the power and it won't even work while hooked up to the power cord. I don't want to have it looked at if it is something simple!

How adverse are you to the idea of getting way into the laptop?
Does the power adapter indicator light come on when you plug in the adapter?
