A few weeks ago I noticed my Toshiba Satellite P-50 was displaying (0% battery remaining, plugged in charging) or (0%battery remaining, plugged in, not charging). Whenever I unplugged it from main adapter it would immediately go into hibernation, however it would resume functions immediately after I plugged it into a power source. Recently I unplugged it to move it and when I plugged it back in it would boot up I would be able to log in then it would go into hibernation a minute or 2 later. I unplugged the adapter and it displayed 0% battery remaining however it stayed on for a good 15 minutes before I turned it off myself. Then I was unable to turn it on at all when it was unplugged and even plugged in it would power off 30 seconds into boot up. (Not go into hibernation, it would completely power off). I gave it to a friend to have a look at but as he was also unable to get it to boot up he was unable to diagnose anything. When he gave it back I could get it to boot up when on main adapter however it would still go into hibernation a minute or so after start up. I discovered the battery reset slot on the back near the memory access port (my laptop has a non removable internal battery) tried hitting that and then holding down power button (while unplugged from main adapter) but it did not solve the problem. Tonight I tried turning it on while unplugged from power and it booted up and has been working for the last 25 minutes however the battery light is blinking amber and this entire time it has said 0% remaining on the battery status in the bottom left corner of my screen. After posting this I am going to plug it into adapter to see if it goes into hibernation or stays on.

So I plugged into main power, it did not go into hibernation. I unplugged it and it did. Here is some more information, while plugged in the battery light stays on and is amber. It currently says 0% available plugged in charging. Most of the time my battery power plan is on high performance.

I first did a hard reset on my battery with the laptop turned off and the charger uplugged. Then I plugged the charger in and turned the unit on. This bought me some time to go to device manager and disable the battery charging. Do not disable ac power. The laptop then will stay on under ac power. I wil now get a new battery.

I bought the same satellite P50 about 1.5 yrs back/ And it does the same. There is no way of finding the batery pack, since it lookslike itis sealed. As soon as I log in it goes to sleeping mode and the battery charge shows zero. I tried to charge for over night. It does not get charged. I cul dnot use the computer and the Toshiba does not want to care about it. I will never buy Toshiba. Worst posible computer. I boughtit because it was rated as if it is the best to buy. I got cheated. I do not know what to do. I may have to buy another one. They cost a lot atleast $700 or more

I had a P50A - and starting yesterday the laptop started to "sleep" after 15m.
First i tought it was heating - i just open the machine today - remove all the dust and... still no solution.

During this time i notest that i had the info that the battery had 0% (funy thing is that is running with no issues for almost an hour now on... battery...
(in a strange way... battery is doing better thant now than the problems appear)

The problem is that if I plugged into ac ... it will go down.
It can go down just after I logged into Windows or a few minuts later - normally it doesn't shuts downs - just "sleeps".
Any ideia?

Hi, I suddenly had the same problem that the laptop was plugged in but said 0% battery and it kept going into hibernation mode by itself, while I was working. I unscrewed the battery in the bag, blew out any dust to clean the contacts, put it back together and now my battery happily says that it is at 100%. So at least try that.

I have a satellite L455 and I'm experiencing this too. I had an update to windows 10 a few days ago, 2 days ago actually, and when I turned it on today, it kept going into hibernation/sleep every 15 or so minutes. Granted, my battery has sucked for years now (which it looks like I can take out and its not an internal battery), but it never did this before this update, and I've had Windows 10 now since May or June.

Getting to the battery part, I'm basically stuck to my power pack, which is fine, but when I turn it on every time, the battery always says 0%. Anyway, it was shutting off/going into sleep mode. What I did was pull the pack that connects to the laptop, and then it would come back on without me hitting the power button.

Once the battery said that it was charged enough, the laptop has stayed on without going into hibernation (its been closer to an hour without shutting off) Fingers crossed...
