Hi everybody!
It's my first time here, so I'll start with a little presentation.
I'm Davide, 19, from Italy, so forgive me for my bad English.
I've always been into computers, since the age of 3, when I wrote my first words using Word 6.0 on Win 95. Anyway, I'm very passionate of many subjects (e.g. :mechanics, electronics, philosophy, music...) as I'm quite curious.
I'm hoping to have a pleasant and collaborative period in this awesome forum. It's one of the most complete and "fresh" I've ever seen. Congratulations!
Let's go straight to the point now.
I have a 13-year-old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600, with 512MB SDR, 80.0 GB IDE HDD.
A few years ago, due to a sudden voltage change, the MoBo burnt out.
I ordered a spare one on eBay, used but tested working, and I replaced the old one.
Now the laptop is working, but it doesn't recognize the DVDROM drive. I'm sure it's in working conditions, as I tested it on another old Toshiba I have. I also switched the units of the two laptop without luck.
When installed, the unit light blinks, the tray works, and if a CD is put inside, it spins.
Even though, nor the BIOS nor Win XP seem to "see" the drive. Even if I try to boot from a cd, it says "Insert system disk in drive. Press any key when ready...".
I already tried upgrading the BIOS.
Last thing to say, I even bought a second MoBo, from another seller. No differences.
Do I have to start searching for a good exorcist? 😀
I hope to have written somethind at least understandable...
Have a nice day!
Davide
