Hi all,

Last night I opened up my laptop to replace the fan, and whilst I was there I decided to replace the thermal paste.

This went well but it wouldn't boot up - I could hear the HDD working but the screen is black. I reopened it to see if I had left any connectors out and noticed the some thermal paste on the board. I opened it up and cleaned it all out (I used too much paste the first time round), replacing the paste with a single blob, but this doesn't make a difference.

I tried the "take battery out, hold down power-on button" but this didn't make a difference. I tried putting only 1 ram stick in each holder (in all permutations) but this didn't change anything.

Any ideas?

hi to much paste application could pose problem clean clean everything. connect ang external monitor of your lptop to see ifit has output. if it has then maybe you forgot to replace correctly the lcd cable. processor could be shorted. remember thermal paste are good conductors. if anything else fails then bring it to the speialist
