Didn't know if I should post this here or to the Displays - but here we go.

My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite S955-S5373 Laptop. She recently grabbed the laptop by the screen and ended up busting it.

Specifically, the screen isn't cracked but it seems like the pixels are dead. There is a large black mark in the shape of her thumb, on the top right where she grabbed the screen. On top of that, the top maybe 1/5 of the screen is all messed up in a horizontal bar across. It just looks like a mess of pixels and colors and you can't actually see what is there.

So in theory the screen is broken and I was thinking if we could find a new screen, that would solve the problem rather than buying a new laptop. So luckily amazon has everything, and I found one.

Here's the screen I'm looking at on Amazon :
http://www.amazon.com/TOSHIBA-SATELLITE-S955-S5373-Laptop-Display/dp/B00FN9AWRE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1460342229&sr=1-1&keywords=Toshiba+SATELLITE+S955-S5373+Laptop+Screen

Unfortunately, my girlfriend is leaving this week and I can't wait for the shipping. So I was looking at my local Microcenter and found this 'generic Toshiba screen replacement'

http://www.microcenter.com/product/416296/156_Replacement_Laptop_Screen_Toshiba_Models

How will I know if this will fit? People at microcenter online help didn't seem to know, maybe if I bring it in the store they would know... But I figured I'd ask here first and see if anyone might be able to help before buying the part and failing because it doesn't fit or doesn't have the right connection.

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Hi, the screen of your laptop on the Amazon site has a certain attachment on top and bottom, the screen from the Microcenter site seems screw from the side of the screen. They are both compatible for the resolution, but the connectors are not at the same place.
