Hello,
my Toshiba A300 running with Vista seems to be broken. If I press the power button the Laptop begins to start up but shuts down after a few seconds again and boots again. This happens all the time. I can't see the Toshiba logo or anything, the screen stays black, also if I plug in another VGA monitor to the laptop.
I already tried starting the laptop with the battery removed, no change.
Any troubleshooting tips?

Solution
Probably a bad motherboard but may be something else. Test with one RAM stick at a time or with different RAM, see if it will start up without anything connected, remove the hard drive and optical disk.

That system is about 10 years old, don't bother buying parts for it. You can buy a newer much faster system for cost of parts.
