Touchpad Button Problem

Hello forum,

I have a Samsung R530 laptop (Core i3, 8GB ram, SSD. Runs well but there's a problem with the touchpad. When I put any pressure at all on the area just above the top of the touchpad (and below the bottom row of keys on the keyboard) the laptop behaves as if I have clicked the touchpad left button. The same thing sometimes happens when I push certain keyboard keys (but not other).

The click also shows up in the little indicator icon in my system tray.

It's an intermittent but long-standing problem, and very annoying.

Does anyone know what the problem might be please, and how I could fix it? Some kind of short circuit inside the keyboard/touchpad perhaps? I haven't spilled any liquid on there (as far as I can remember...!). I think the keyboard and touchpad can be replaced fairly easily, but the touchpad buttons are - IIRC - soldered directly onto the main motherboard so that could be more difficult to replace.

Thanks!
Alan.

Sounds like a physical issue, nothing you can unless you take the thing apart and make sure everything is seated properly and is not contacting things in the wrong areas. That laptop looks to be 6-7 years old, probably not worth fixing unless you just want to replace it with the same model, which may have the same issue due to lower quality construction.
