The old one got stolen. It was Samsung Galaxy J3.My new one is ZTE.

It transferred only Google numbers with e mail addresses. How do I go about regular contacts with phone numbers only.

Was is sync to a google account? If not, they are gone. next time back it up.
And if it is, just add your google account to your next phone and sync it.
