Solved! Transfer Music From PC To Ipad

I never really use itunes but have it installed on my PC, I want to be able to drag a load of music from a flash drive onto my ipad but as it's 16gb I don't want it to create a copy onto my PC ... will it do it without doing that or is it always going to create a duplicate copy and store in the library on the PC.

EDIT: Actually having looked at it closer $34.95 for a one off transfer ... I'll use itunes and delete the library when I'm done for free.

I use the import music folder in iTunes, but you do need to copy the files to that folder on your computer. https://support.apple.com/guide/itunes/import-items-already-on-your-computer-itns3081/mac

http://www.theinstructional.com/guides/a-more-efficient-way-of-importing-content-into-itunes <-- look for the text "automatically add to iTunes" there, that is what I use. Just copy the files to that folder, and iTunes will import it. Sync the iPad and music goes there.
