Trouble figuring out if old laptops fits a new SSD

why not just look at other SSD drives that give you the dimensions and get one of those drives? as long as the drive is the same size as the old HDD, and the laptop takes a SATA hard drive. it shouldn't be a problem.

i understand you may just be trying to get this specific SSD because it is cheap or on sale but sometimes it better just to spend the extra cash on something you are certain on

The OCZ Trion 150 is a very good SSD and has the same dimensions as any other SSD (e.g. Samsung 850 Evo/Pro). In fact, most SSDs have virtually the same dimensions (within a fraction of a millimeter). The only SSDs bigger than the standard 2.5" form factor are a few Intel NVMe U.2 SSDs and some very old SSDs.
