I just got my new Windows 8 Lenovo Yoga 13 laptop. It does not have a VGA port and I do a lot of presentations where I need to connect to projectors at my client's offices. So I purchased a HDMI to VGA adapter cable. It worked fine to connect to my desktop monitor, but when I tried to connect to a projector yesterday, both the laptop and the projector image would "blink" on and off. I lowered the resolution on the display to 1024 x 768 (the lowest available on my Lenovo), but it still didn't work. I had to borrow a client's laptop to do the presentation.

I see that there are convertors that are made for high resolution output to TVs, is that what I need?

I really love this laptop, especially the touchscreen, so I would hate to return it to Lenovo. But I can't keep it if I can't reliably connect to any projector like I did for years with my faithful old Dell Latitude. I called Lenovo support and they were no help, said that the adapter should have worked. Can you help?

Yes, that's what I tried this week, this one in particular: http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Plated-Premium-Adapter/dp/B00879DM56/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1362067643&sr=8-2&keywords=hdmi+to+vga.

It did not work. Do you think I need something more like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0U008N4201
