[Sorry for the cross-post, didn't know where to put this one.]
I have a iPAQ that I am synching with Outlook 2003.

When I look at my voice recordings, they show up in outlook as envelopes and
there's text that says that in order "To view/ edit your notes, see the
Notes section of the ReadCE file, located on the ActiveSync CD.

I cannot find this file, and would really love to be able to review my notes
on the desktop. (Which I seem to remember doing before.

Thanks,
Scott

your (or someone else's) original post on this question has been
answered in microsoft.public.pocketpc which was the appropriate location
for posting.

Thanks for understanding that cross posting creates additional work for
those who respond.

Beverly,
I appreciate your response, and direction, however I have just searched
through public.pocketpc and find no reference. Could you please provide the
information here?

I don't mean to make more work for you, and do appreciate your help here in
this forum.

Wasn't you, but similar... the following three items should help...
install the "forms" first.

See http://BevHoward.com/bhhpj.htm#Record for more information on this.

for long recordings, suggest you look at one of the several third party
recorder apps that record to mp3 and offer more control and options.

To read ink and voice notes on Outlook, you need to install the
corresponding forms, using "forminst.exe" in your ActiveSync
installation folder.

Thank you Beverly.

Makes it difficult to find forms folders when you install from the
activesunc D/L, but I got it.

For anyone else who has this issue, explode the ActiveSync3.7.1 installer
and look in your temp folder for a folder called IXP000.TMP
Inside there is a generic looking executible forminst.exe
Double-click this and you're all set. Just close Outlook and then re-open.

glad it helped...

>> forminst.exe <<

It _should_ have been in the Microsoft Activesync folder on the pc as it
is normally copied there during the activesync install.

Scott,

I can quite heartily recommend Resco's Audio Recorder
www.resco-net.com

It does a great job at recording and offers several options including
variable quality, format and even voice activation.
