trying to get sound from studio xps to visio tv

I'm trying to get sound from my studio xps 8100 desktop to my visio hd tv for my world of warcraft

yes I do have both hdmi cables for my desktop and my visio tv but I think I am hooked up with a vgb cable from my desktop the small 15 pin blue one with no moniter or speakers for my desktop.

You do not need vga if both devices have hdmi. Hdmi will carry the audio. You may have to select the default playback device to be youe digital hdmi. Good luck
