I installed google voice on my droid X so now I two phone numbers, lol. I am still not sure if it uses verizon minutes when I call through google voice instead of through my normal number. Does anyone know?

oh no. now advertisers will start using the 760 750 8888 number yo call from. I wonder if google has a way to stop it?

All Google voice does is forward calls to your phone. It does use your minutes if your Google voice number is not in your limit 5 friend number list. If you call Google voice first and then connect to another number (press 2 as I remembered) and Google voice number is in your 5 friend number list, in this situation, you will have unlimited minutes.

Will this be free if you call the US from Asia for example? I have an upcoming trip abroad and this may save me a bunch if I can call a 1-800 number from outside the US.
