tv not working

Here is my problem i have a Tobshiba x505-q832 laptop that i want to hook up to my sony tv via a HDMI cord. So i plugged in to the HDMI port on my lap top and to the HDMI 1 port on the tv and nothing. Tv says (no signal) So i was in the control panel an can't find any thing in there. Question is i am sure there is a driver i am missing but not sure please HELP as i can't figure this one out. Thank you Mack

usually you have to switch it to hdmi like fn + f6 or something like that. Did you try that.

I tried fn-f5 and it mad a weird sound but i had a pic but no sound plus no picture on the laptop i would like to have both if possible.

yoiu also have to switch it to hdmi audio in the sound properties i believe if you right click speaker icon and select playback devices then hdmi output
