So why doesn't the government make a separate intranet separate from the rest of the world, a sort of network outside the internet. Have all USB keys, DVD's... etc. used only on the computers connected to the network. For external communications, use computers solely dedicated for insecure web browsing and connecting to the internet. It would cost money but so would financing super complex firewalls that can easily be cracked with a little dedication which our enemies have lots of.

They should just have a overpaid, under educated person that virtually feels up your computer for your safety.

[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]I honestly do not understand the reasoning behind why the government allows access to ANY of it's internal networks via the WWW. Pure ignorance.[/citation]

Much of the military's and intellligence's work runs on another "internet" with an entirely different backbone already.

Not really, the data is needed by many people across the world and especially the US. encryption and other technologies are often secure enough for as long as the data needs to be secured.

The biggest of all problems with this has always been user be knowledge and use of computers systems. For many reasons of course on many terms, but of all those there are ways to ensure that no matter where the threat, is going to always be the same problems. Cuase of the complexity and interests involved at all times in terms of Cyber interests and threats.

In terms of many things having the government and other agencies work with each other to keep their cyber interests together is great. Given of all things of the cyber world their parts be in a secure means for their use of course, anyone with a computer would probably feel the same way. So with it hopefully many means to ensure some stability and safety of the emerging threats so to say no-matter what, given most probably have the same problem.

Knowing more legislation will probably go into effect on the issue is helpful though and that other means have already been looked into, given the Cyber part of any infrustructure takes alot of time and investment to do.

Well I mean come on, this was obvious even two years ago. The Chinese/North Koreans have been a step ahead in this area - they've probably established a national cyberwarfare unit already. Just ask Lockheed Martin, when the Chinese tried to access their classified database.

[citation][nom]Gates[/nom]but the approach is cautious given that civil liberties could be inadvertently violated. [/citation]

Oh really? How conveniently masked, taking into account that the RIAA and MPAA are at the forefront of a filesharing world and have been recently hacked and DDOS'ed to oblivion by Annonymous, they managed to pay enough goverment for them to entrench a new police state era China like censorship regime. But hey it's really for you own safety, seriously, trust me. Duh!!!
