I hope it all goes well. Porn for kids under the age 16 can really mess them up in more than one way. You know it, I know it. It's already bad enough that kids nowadays are so exposed to violence, discrimination and all that stuff...why make it worse by having porn available?

If you're an adult you have nothing to worry about, you'd just have to call your ISP for a few min and tell em to enable it...if you want porn that is. But there is a lot of people out there who don't know how to use filters or are unable to monitor their kids (or have kids who are good at hiding it - and clean after themselves).

I can honestly say, I would've had a different teenage hood if it hadn't been porn. I regret watching that crap and you probably feel the same way, if you don't then think about how different your life would've been and tell me it doesn't look better

I think were all forgetting the real reason why the internet was invented porn. If you remove or block porn from the internet it it wont work. Have fun with no Internets United Kingdom.

[citation][nom]rogerdodja[/nom]This is a good idea. If you want porn then ask for the unblock. Why is it an invasion of free speech/ free choice NOT to have porn by default. I don't want it, I don't want to stumble upon it nor do I want to be seduced by it.Why should I have to buy content filtering software or install a firewall because it is not an option straight from the ISP?There are smoking and drinking laws to protect the young why should there not be automatic protection from porn for the young and anyone else that wants it[/citation]
Because such laws do nothing to protect the children. Just because you had to be over 18/21 to buy something was nothing but a very minor hurdle to the teens/college students who wanted smokes/booze.

You want to protect the children?
Be a better parent.

What? "You know it, I know it"? No, I don't know it. It sounds like you're using porn as a scapegoat for your own bad choices that you made as a kid rather than owning up to your own mistakes.

I remember rooting around in my friend's dad's basement looking at his penthouses (or even the Sears catalog before that - hey, this was the pre-internet days, we had to be creative). Heck, my own mother even bought a Playboy for me when I was 12 to satisfy my curiosity. I would hardly say it 'messed me up' as a kid considering I graduated top of my class, ended up with a full ride scholarship, got my advanced degrees and am now a quite successful chemical engineer with a wonderful family. I would hardly say porn 'destroyed my life' or even that it affected it in any way other than to provide an occasional stress outlet or as a training for things to try with The Wife.

i am 17, 18 in jully if i want to buy cigeretts or alcohol i could buy it online with my debit card that i got years ago and if they check the age of my account all i need is to use my paypal account and they automattically think im over 18

and anyway the internet was not invented for porn, it was invented by the army becasue they wanted a quick way to transport data

So what if little billy stumbles upon some naked women?...
What could come of it?
Maybe he'll become a raging heterosexual and what would be wrong with that? Maybe he'll start masterbating before the other kids his age... Is this really an issue that a government should waist thier time and money on?

Seriously, it's not like it would be tramatizing, and if it is, that kid has lead a life that is exessively sheltered. Not like looking at pictures of dead people that have had thier heads crushed or blown off. Pictures of actual deaths can actually be tramatizing and have a real effect. Other than that, I say leave it up to parents to buy a software that protects against such content like NetNanny for example.

What really surprises me is that 40% of people aged 19 have never found porn online according to this!

I guess they're just the ones that lied in the survey.

[citation][nom]gmarsack[/nom]All I can say is, imagine how fast the internet would be without porn. The bandwidth freed up would be staggering.[/citation]
Yeah, I could get my email spam that much faster!

[citation][nom]A person[/nom]I think a lot of religious fanatics like to pretend like nudity is some how terrible or wrong. But we all know that they go home of rub one or four out when nobody is looking.[/citation]
So only the religious are to blame for this? And the fanatical ones, at that. Of course! What other kind of religious people are there? If you believe in God (pick one) and His teachings at all, then you must be a fanatic! You can't *just* have an opinion based in morality and faith. Oh no! You *must* be a bible thumper, out to convert the wicked and control the universe!!! Well said. But of course, there might be an athiest out there that might want to help protect kids from seeing porn. You never know ...they might think kids seeing porn at too young an age might confuse or scare them. It might fester in the children's minds, telling them that porn is true romance, and that this is how partners *should* treat each other. Especially that gay porn. I guess my son really should be exposed to that so he can know what choices there are for him in the world. Forget about biological urges! Bah! Sex is all about choices! Make your choices in misery, dear eight year old ...go ahead! Oh and, yes, they *all* spank it. They *all* do. It's common knowledge. Thanks for bringing it up. The secret is out.

Stay in your basement. Don't come up. I don't want you to be saved.

We must protect the CHILDREN!

Before porn, people never had sex until they were over 18 and got married!

(cough) bullshit (cough)

Why do they care what anyone else is doing with the internet that they pay for?
It's all about control!
Once they get this in place they will bend you over & rape you on more fees & or taxes some way or form. As if you don't pay enough already to have internet access.....

If government was truley devoid of any religious beliefs, this wouldn't be a problem.
How many wars have been caused by religion?

it actually makes sense. I'm not sure am I for or against it. There are a lot of pros and cons.

Kids should be sheltered from filth as much as possible. What they're proposing isnt end of internet porn. All adults wanting it, will have it on their request. As it stands people that dont want it, need to make that request and as said, only 15% of parents know how to setup filters.
