UL80GA vs. TravelMate8471

Hi all,

The two laptops are very similar in terms of their specs.

The UL80GA has the brand name which is considered to be better, but there are reports of a bad touchpad (e.g. here and it has a glossy screen which I don't like.

Acer apparently doesn't enjoy the same strength of brand, but it is a business line which are supposed to be better than general?

I'd like to read your thoughts on this. The price difference is not big enough to be a factor.

Indeed. Asus does tend to build a better laptop, at least in my opinion. Acer on the other hand tends to build the most laptops, i.e. quality vs. quantity. Out of the two. I'd probably go with the Asus- touch pad problems aside. If you find the touch pad unusable or simply "broken" when you get it, you can either return it and get the Acer or simply send it in to have it fixed free of charge.
