Unable to get additional tracks for garageband

When I first started using garageband today, I noticed there were a bunch of tracks not installed. When I click on one of them, it tells me to download it from the app store updates page. when I go to the app store, in the updates page it is empty. so what should I do????
I am running garageband on mac os x 10.8.5, on a late 2012 iMac if that means anything.
