Unlock X800Pro pipes

How hard/easy is it to unlock the extra pipes of the X800Pro? Is it even possible?

Only possible on the VIVO versions. Is yours a VIVO card?

Don't have a X800Pro - just curious with one costing $259 on <A HREF="http/www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102496" target="_new">Newegg</A> - it is a VIVO, too! That's a great deal if you can unlock the pipes. Based on what Mozz has seen, it will OC better than the XL and this Sapphire one costs $10 less than the Rosewill (won't) X800XL.

From what ive read its got to be the VIVO but im not sure what that means. I think that they have what you need at The Guru. I know that there are some detailed post in the ORB's forums about how to do it. From what ive read it seems to be no more complicated than flashing the BIOS on your computer. Of course there are risk involved if you lose power but a UPS will take care of that.

Yes, most X800 PROs are prevented from unlocking the 16-pipes because the die has been laser cut, but some VIVO models of the X800 PRO don't have the laser cuts and can therefore be modded to X800XT specs.

Still, I'm not sure if it's specific to a manufacturer or anything, you should ask around at the Rage3d.com forums, those guys will know for sure.

I'm not gonna get the card - just got a 9800Pro in my system a couple of weeks ago and I don't even have a PCIe mobo! Just curious after your 800XL post on Pro performance and the Pro card on sale at Newegg for $259. If you could get XT performance off that card then that would be a great deal for the money. XT performance for less than the price of a low-end XL!

Come to think of it Mozzartsum, are you sure that the high-score holding X800 PRO's aren't VIVOs with 16 pipes enabled?

That would explain alot.

They cut the bridges on the chip, so reconnection takes alot more work with some nickel paint.

The ones with the high scores have been flashed. Is there another process to go through to unlock the other pipes? I had assumed that flashing to XT did it all in one step.
