Update IP address geolocation.

How do I update the geolocation of my IP address? I looked up my IP address online and my geolocation information is set to a previous address I used to live at.

Contact your ISP and get them to sort things out.
Not much you can do on your end tbh, all to do with the provider.

Do you know why my Geo information would remain the same as my previous residential address?

It could be because your devices still have the same IP address registered to them, and are recognizing the new signal and your old connection, but it is most likely just your current connection has not updated the connection geographically.
Just contact your ISP and get them to sort it out, I don't really know that much about how geographical location is determined via connection.

By old connection do you mean my old landline connection? Are geoloactions of ip addresses not always accurate? How are some map applications then able to pinpoint my exact physical location?

I've looked at some "what's my ip websites" and I get results of random cities, some close to me and some not but all are linked to my ISP.
