I have a 2009 MacbookPro with two 2GB cards. 1067mhz DDR3. I have two 4GB 1866 cards from a newer exchange. Can I use the 1866 cards in the 2009? It can handle the 8GB total. Intel i5 2.8 core II duo processor. Thanks.

Hello LN,

Thanks for the quick response. I reviewed the reference you mention. I don't know if this makes a difference but mine is the 15" with the 2.8 processor. I am not much of a technical person. I'm more of a user. But I did read a response elsewhere that a higher Mhz card would work, but not at the memory card's designed Mhz level - in this case 1066 vs 1866.

Anyone else have any insight to the possibility of using the 1866 memory cards?

Would the laptop be damaged trying to run these cards as mentioned?

Thanks.
