Upgrade from M290X CF to GTX 980M SLI?

I was wondering if I was able to upgrade my existing Alienware 18 with Dual M290X's to Dual 980M's? I'm not sure if there is a different socket or something else which may stop the upgrade?

AFAIK the alienware laptops still use MXM sockets for their GPUs.

If they do, then you should be able to. Show a photo of your laptops videocards plugged in and removed and I can give more confidence on this answer...

(that said, its not really a justifiable upgrade for the expense)
